Spring cleaning time again and the urge to redesign my website.
I’ve just spent about 3 hours playing with various designs, but, ultimately, I decided I preferred the one I have anyway. Which goes to show that sometimes change is needed urgently, but sometimes sticking with a gut feeling works. So here it is, the new, mostly unchanged, Flow Contemporary Arts website.
I have succumbed to the pressure from others to add some images to the front page and I have to admit, it does jolly it up a bit. I’ve also given in to the endless pressure from government bodies and others to provide quantitative evidence about my practice. And the numbers quite surprised me when I totted them up:
In the last 15 years I have:
Created opportunities for over 100 artists to make NEW work
Achieved over £500, 000 of funding income
Managed budgets totalling over ONE MILLION pounds
Produced 10+ major scattered-site visual arts projects working with many partners
In the past 2 years, since I set up Flow, I have:
Mentored 13 artists and assisted some of them in securing a total of £35,000
Fundraised £39,000 for projects and research
Consulted with major land managers to develop a sound curatorial strategy
Written 141 posts on my blog as well as articles for journals, including Arts Professional
Have 85 people following my blog
Followed by 841 people on Twitter and have tweeted 1,262 times
Enjoyed excellent professional development in marketing, leadership and writing about the arts
Worked with 2 libraries and 4 museums and a printmaking studio
Become a Board member for b-side arts
Now I’ve made myself blush I can share a pic of me with my new fan – ready for summer and new projects on the way – watch this space…..
Great Caroline. Figures are impressive!

That is impressive Carolyn, well done. I’ve recently started doing something similar but with a smaller focus on the number of people I, and Local Journeys, have involved in ‘Outdoor Learning / Engaging with the Environment’ over the last few years – not only useful as stats to show to funders but can help you feel justified in putting a feather in your work hat, and to flaunt it!
