I live in a small village in the Forest of Dean and am really pleased to see we have a Big Draw event this weekend at The Club!
We’re lucky here in Newnham, lots of creative things happen here throughout the year. We have a regular film club too! I sing with the George Choir in The Armoury Hall and genuinely believe art is for everyone so encourage all ages to get engaged, from local to international level. As they say, no better place to start things than home……
So, here’s what is on:
The BIG DRAW Comes to Newnham!
The Club, Newnham High Street,
Saturday 25 October, 10.00–1.00pm
If you love drawing, painting, collage, making things and generally getting messy,
Saturday’s Big Draw event at The CLUB in Newnham is for you!!
What is the Big Draw?
All over the country, children and families will be taking part in the world’s largest drawing festival, and YOU can be part of it too! Thousands of events will connect people of all ages with museums, outdoor spaces, artists, designers, illustrators – and each other. You don’t have to be a great artist: the Big Draw is for everybody, and all ages and abilities are welcome.
What Happens?
The nationwide Big Draw theme this year is ‘Our Environment’ – so we’re asking you to create images of our area, including the wonderful old buildings in Newnham High Street, the River Severn and local landmarks like the Clocktower or Westbury Water Garden. Everything you need will be provided, and you can use whatever materials you like, from pencils and crayons to paints and collage. Best not to wear your smartest clothes, though!
Admission is free. Refreshments will be provided (including a spectacular cake baked by Newnham WI), and afterwards you can sit back and enjoy a free film show!
So please come along and bring your friends!
