do you have an object you love and would like to tell me about? make a video-short and share

I’m busy doing research for the Story of Objects – talking with people, listening to their stories about the thing they have and love. It’s a privilege for people to hear such things – a window into other people’s worlds, histories of families, footprints of places, tales of loves, lives and losses.

I made a 30 second video-short with my iPhone today, and thought it would be really great if you could do the same. I need to hear your stories – take note of what you say, what words you use, how emotional you are, how connected you feel to your objects.

There’s a Facebook page dedicated to The Story of Objects – please feel free to make a little film to share with me and other page users. I may ask if I can use yours in a film I plan to make – if I do I would of course ask for your permission and credit you accordingly.

So get creative – use your phone camera, your iPad photo-booth or camera, or even a REAL camera! If you’re a bit camera-shy that’s fine too – just film your hands while you talk, or ask someone to help you to do that.

Here are a few prompts of what I’d like you to share:

This is ……………………….. (describe it)

I got it from…………….(place, person)

It’s mine because……………I inherited it from…. X gave it to me

I keep it because…………….

I intend to …………………….with it

It makes me feel………….sad when I remember, happy when I remember, intrigued, hopeful, positive lime a lucky charm, glad to be alive etc.

and here’s the Facebook page address
