I need you help, 147 people have watched my how-to video – so where are your films?

Seriously, I need to hear from you to learn why you haven’t felt motivated (yet) to participate by contributing a film. The research I’m doing for The Story of Objects includes my listening to how people speak about the objects they hold close to them. Making the 30 second film is quite a fun thing to do – those who have contributed enjoyed doing it and the films are amazing the way they share stories that have the potential to inspire others.

Within my own family I find links are arising, particularly with the family silver – such a cliche! And things others talk about trigger memories for others, there’s definitely a network of related themes coming through – memories of parents, family links, genealogy. Some are happy and snappy, some a little sad. So why aren’t you doing it?

Can you let me know what holds you back?

Might it be the technology? If it is, I am setting up some meetups to share, get in touch if you’d like to set one up

Maybe you are giving it some thought and find it hard to decide what to talk about?

Is it the discomfort of talking to camera? I could use sound files, but then the object isn’t visible……..

Is it because this is a private thing for you?

Does your favourite thing harbour a secret?

Do you think the whole thing is pointless?

If you’d be happy to share your thoughts with me, I’d be interested in engaging in a dialogue – email carolyn@flowprojects.org.uk
