    My uncle Rufus Noel-Buxton waded the Severn to prove there was once a Roman Ford – and got carried away by the Bore!

        I think in the 50s – It was front page news as Lord Noel-Buxton was a labour peer. He also waded the Thames at Westminster and strode into the Lords in galoshes shouting, I only swum two strokes. Arguing that the Thames was paved there, as an extension of Watling Street.
