SOMETHING BETWEEN US is presented during the Stroud Film Festival. You are invited to enter The Chapels of Rest on Bisley Road, Stroud, to experience moving image installations by Anna Cady, Nick Grellier and myself. The exhibition is open for the weekend of March 16/17th March from 12 noon until 6pm on both days.

We have all connected with the very particular character, and purpose, of the chapels in different ways. Evocative, melancholic and humorous in turn.

Artist and film-maker Anna Cady and artist Nick Grellier have collaborated on a multi-projection and audio installation in the South Chapel,  and I’m presenting a selection of works that bring my local landscape of the River Severn into the North Chapel. If you stand outside the Chapels and gaze across the river you will see the other side, where many of the films were made.

I am immensely grateful to Nick and Anna for inviting me, and for the support of Ross Lammas in making his happen. and Anna’s husband Paul, who has provided lovely lunches.

The installation Richard by Nick and Anna is made in response to recently revealed family histories and connected objects – a sweater, ties, notebooks and letters –  and to the essence of the Chapels – as powerful, liminal and disused places of transition overlooking Stroud.

My works are monochrome and hauntingly beautiful, but ominous too. I’ve used various visual processes in my quest to envisage the future flooding of the Arlingham Peninsula, when hills shall become islands.
