My regular studio notes are very important to my practice. Every year I create a new one and begin by reflecting on how things developed the previous year.
My notes are all in one document per year, with new entries added at the top, with the date. Not every day, but very often.
The end of 2023 notes were all about film-making.
By the end of 2024 most notes were about printmaking.
Until May 2024 I was exploring my fishtank diorama (still not realised), doing photo litho and developing films for Stroud. I loved doing an immersive video installation again, but couldn’t have done it without Ross.
I made my first large paper litho of Swing in May 2024. Good challenge, but not repeated since – it was physically very hard to achieve as it was hand drawn then hand printed due to size.
By the end of May I was into monoprints, collagraphs and tremor drawings. This tremor in my drawing hand is affecting my practice so I have been embracing it. The marks are loose, free and tender.
Then tetra pak printing, mostly 2D. Large scale and tiny too.
Print exhibition was the best show I participated in during 2024. Only just ahead of the Chapel video installation, which was very special too. Thanks to Nichola Goff for the Pressed and Pulled print show, and Anna Cady, Nick Grellier and Ross Lammas for Something Between Us.
Late 2024 I was experimenting with constructions/deconstructions in print using multiple plates. My 3D tetra pak work was another step forward for me.
I am beginning to miss making videos. And doing large drawings. So they are at the top of my list for 2025. And prints, of course,

Here’s to another year of exploration, experimentation and stretching my practice.
